About Me:
My name is Michael Chung. I go by Mike. I am still attending college to pursue a degree in computer science. My hobby or interest I always do on the side is dance. I am mainly a hip hop dancer that incorporates poppin', isolation, choreography and tutting. I was also trained as a lyrical dancer for 18 months. Learning different styles of dance is the key to expanding my versatility. I wish I am able to learn more from others as well to become a stronger dancer myself.
Favorite Place:
My favorite place to go would be San Jose, CA. Only because I have family and we rarely have the currency to travel anywhere.
Strengths:
I am very consistent, responsible, and strategize individual. I plan out what should be done and keep everything well organize.
Weaknesses:
One of my main weaknesses is probably talking to others because I would tend to be uncomfortable with the person if I would know what to say.
What does your schedule look like:
My schedule is very stable currently. I will have always have time one the weekends begin.
How did you get started:
I started dancing since 2005, but it wasn't much when it begun. It all began with just the popular dances my friends did in school. I was 13 at the time. Certain dances that came from the south that I have started out with was the "Lean wit it, Rock wit it" and the "motorcyle." They were small typical dances and I thought it was cool. By the time I moved to Chicago, my whole dancing experience have changed. I started to learn more about the hip hop culture and where dancing is not just about repetitive movements. It taught me to see the different styles such as waving, gliding, tutting, poppin', locking, and etc. I began to practice a bit of each to see what I like. After that, I began to battle against my friends and to become better. The one inspiration that got me into the dancing world is Jabbawockeez. Later on, I have practice and practice and going out to learn from others. As time passed by, I started to learn choreography techniques and made my own pieces for school recitals. By my junior year in high school, I have begun lyrical dancing which as open my mind even more. Currently, I have been battling by attending the events around the area to gain tips from the more experience dancers. Each dance has made me think more about how I dance and how much I can grow.
| In the next 5 years where would you like to see yourself?
Anything else you want to add: |
In the next 5 years, I will hopefully be dancing with the people that are my inspirations or learning from them.
